| Player's comments: | At Sermanu, behind the schist house
where he was born in 1955, Guelfucci puts the last key at its more recent
project. In this small Corsican village which dominates the valley of Venaco,
he take all the time he have to finish, with his uncle, the construction
of his mill for the manufacture of sweet chestnut flour. He was known as
a bee-keeper, but the harmful effect on its vocal cords of the smoke which
it must use brings it to turn more and more to flour-milling. While granting
a privileged moment to the song, it's above all the work of its hands that
Guelfucci live. Many estimates that he's one of the most beautiful voices of Corsica! Co founder of the group "Canta U Populu Corsu", he continues since more than 10 years a solo career which show the specificity of the Corsican oral tradition. The exceptional qualities of his voice and the richness of his origins explain the fact that he's a major reference of the Corsican song of these last decades. He is one of the few corsican singers to have given to Corsican music success outside of The Beauty Island (Corsica), in Canada for example. He also made many concerts with Renaud, the group Pow Wow... And the prima ballerina Marie-Claude Pietragalla, of the Opera of Paris, created a choreography entitled "CORSICA" with songs of Petru. |
